Office 365 Pro Plus on Terminal Server/Citrix

To customize a Click-to-Run for Office 365 installation, administrators run the Office Deployment Tool and provide a custom Configuration.xml configuration file. The Office Deployment Tool performs the tasks that are specified by using the properties in the configuration file.

Start by downloading the “Office Deployment Tool for Click-To-Run” extract them in a shared directory on accessible to all Your Terminal Servers.

In this example I used Office365Server.altittude365.comOffice365C2R

Open the configuration.xml file and edit the sourcepath, language and products that is needed. In this example I will download all products and Swedish as an aditional language.
The Language ID that you specify determine which languages will be installed.  The first language determines the Shell UI language. The Shell UI is the language that is used to display shortcuts, right-click context menus, and tooltips.
Need to change the Shell UI language after an initial installation? You then have to uninstall Click-to-Run and reinstall it. Add the language that you want to set for the Shell UI as the first language in the custom Configuration.xml file.

<Add SourcePath="Office365Server.altitude365.comOffice365C2R" OfficeClientEdition="32" >

<Product ID="O365ProPlusRetail">
<Language ID="en-us" />
<Language ID="sv-se" />

<Product ID="VisioProRetail">

<Display Level="None" AcceptEULA="TRUE" />

<Logging Name="OfficeSetup.txt" Path="Office365Server.altitude365.comOffice365C2R" />

<Property Name="SharedComputerLicensing" Value="1" />

Open upp CMD and runt the command

setup.exe /download Office365Server.altitude365.comOffice365C2Rconfiguration.xml

If You take a look int the shared folder after the download is finished. There should be an Office folder and the size of it should be around 1 GB if Only one language is downloaded.

The SharedComputerLicensing property in the XML is the important one to make this work on RDS/Citrix. You also need at least version 15.0.4631.1002 of Office 365 ProPlus, which was released in July 2014

Running the install from command prompt.

Logon to the RDS server and run

Office365Server.altitude365.comOffice365C2Rsetup.exe /configure Office365Server.altitude365.comOffice365C2Rconfiguration.xml

Offline cache

Consider disable the offline cache for Outlook via GPO since the .OST file will downloaded to the profile and it might fill up the servers.

Roaming Profiles

In most RDSCitrix Environments the use of roaming profiles is configured. Since the activation is stored in license files, tokens, this folder needs to be included in the profile. If not, the users has to activate everytime they logon.
